Guided by the principles of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and inspired by the remarkable legacy of Leonardo da Vinci, we provide an engaging curriculum that fosters curiosity and ignite a love for learning.

Middle Years Programme: Forming Critical and Reflective Thinkers and Doers

At Renaissance we firmly believe in the power of education to transform lives, and the MYP is designed to do just that. This internationally recognized programme provides a dynamic and challenging learning environment that nurtures your child’s intellectual, academic, and personal growth.

In our three year MYP, we focus on holistic development, catering to the unique needs of students aged 11 to 14. Our curriculum is carefully crafted to engage and empower students, encouraging them to become critical thinkers, compassionate global citizens, and lifelong learners.

Our MYP curriculum is designed with a multidisciplinary approach, integrating various subject areas to encourage connections between their different aspects.

Here are some key features of our MYP:

  • Inquiry-Based Learning: In the MYP, learning is not limited to textbooks and lectures. Instead, students are encouraged to ask questions, investigate, and seek answers through hands-on experiences, research, and collaborative activities. This nurtures their curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Global Perspective: We encourage our students to become active global citizens, fostering cultural awareness, empathy, and respect for diversity. Through service projects, intercultural exchanges, and the study of global issues, our MYP curriculum helps students gain a broader perspective on the world.
  • Skill Development: Alongside subject-specific knowledge, the MYP emphasizes the development of important skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. These skills are essential for success in further education and future careers.

IGCSE: Inspired by da Vinci’s insatiably innovative mind

IGCSE is a two-year programme comprising of Years 10 and 11. During IGCSE, students complete both years of the two year Cambridge IGCSE programme. Throughout Years 10 and 11 students will complete Cambridge International internal assessments, such as coursework.

Students begin to hone their subject choices based on their interests, language proficiency, and aspirations for the future. They will explore their academic subjects in more depth and detail than ever before, therefore our highly experienced subject specialists are dedicated to providing engaging
lessons and the use of continuous, effective assessment tools to monitor individual student progress to respond to the needs of all learners and support them in their academic development.

Years 10 and 11 are also a time for personal growth. Therefore, alongside the academic curriculum, students also benefit from a pastoral programme run by their tutor teachers, a careers and university guidance programme run by our universities and college counsellor, and a varied extra-curricular
activities programme. Our programmes, both academic and otherwise, are all underpinned by our commitment to equipping our students with the tools to achieve lifelong success, happiness, and respect for all.

In order to provide an education to achieve our mission, continuity across the school is key. In the IGCSE programme, the teaching style and programme structure has been designed to provide that crucial stepping stone between IGCSE and the IBDP diploma.

The IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a rigorous and challenging course, so having the right preparation is very important for our students. Our IGCSE programme provides an excellent foundation ready for the demands of the diploma by offering a large range of subjects from a range of disciplines, giving a balanced and broad education (much like the IBDP). Students will also experience different ways of formal assessment such as external exams and a variety of internal assessments, mirroring the types of assessment students will encounter during Year 12 and 13.

The IGCSE program at Renaissance International School Saigon offers a comprehensive curriculum that prepares students for future success. Similar to the interdisciplinary approaches to lifestyle, learning and work pioneered by the DaVinci, the IGCSE programme at Renaissance covers a wide range of subjects, including core disciplines like English, Mathematics, and Sciences, as well as elective subjects in Humanities, Languages, and Creative Arts. This diverse selection allows students to customize their studies based on their interests and strengths.

Renaissance also promotes cultural understanding and open-mindedness, preparing students for a globalized world. Through continuous assessment and examinations, students build a solid foundation for higher education and lifelong learning.

IBDP: Preparing Visionary Citizens for Success that goes beyond

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is widely regarded as the best pre-university course that is offered anywhere in the world. An IB qualification is recognised by many institutions in different countries, and no other programme prepares students better for further education and the world of work.

Renaissance’s IBDP program offers a transformative educational experience. It empowers students to become lifelong learners, critical thinkers, effective communicators, ethical individuals, and compassionate global citizens ready to make a positive impact in the world.

Program Pathway

The DP organises teaching and learning through six subject groups (First Languages, Second or Foreign Languages, Individuals and Societies, Experimental Sciences, Mathematics, and the arts) underpinned by the DP core. Students choose a course from within each subject group, giving them a broad and diverse learning experience that provides an excellent foundation for any area of future study.

What the DP offers students

Through the DP, schools are able to develop students who:

  • have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge
  • flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically
  • study at least two languages
  • excel in traditional academic subjects
  • explore the nature of knowledge through the programme’s unique theory of knowledge course.

As an inclusive school, we offer multiple diploma pathways. All students who graduate are awarded the high school diploma alongside the full IB Diploma or the IB course programme. We use knowledge about each student to determine the most appropriate pathway.

There are 3 essential components of the full diploma alongside the academic subjects: Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS), Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and the Extended Essay (EE). These components enable students to develop and extend their learning into personal, local and global contexts. Those students who do not complete the full IB diploma, will still demonstrate a commitment to CAS.
